Skype - loss of incoming speech.
Recently accepted the latest Skype update and since then, despite much checking of settings, I cannot hear in coming speech either when I am called or when I initiate the call, vision no problem, the other party can hear me.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if there is an obvious cure that I have missed please? Thanks. (System restore doesn't do it and trying to download and install previous version only gets 'There is a problem' and although the download has worked the install doesn't).

What Mac suggested - in the meantime forgive me for suggesting some of the the obvious - things you've already checked anyway ....
Are other sounds working on the device? Speaker unplugged? Mute button activated somewhere? Volume slider(s) sitting quietly on zero? Headphones in socket?
Program upgrades sometime sneak new innovations into unexpected places / menus / boxes.
Not much else to go on until further information is offered....

Thanks to you all, sorry:
Dell Inspiron One, a sort of laptop expanded to a desk top screen, the 'works' are behind the screen, only one wire required. Using MS Windows 7.
I can get the Skype 'attention' call incoming, after changing speaker settings, but cannot hear the voice, still working well on my laptop using the previous version of Skype. As it doesn't appear to be a common fault I'll go back through all the settings and match them to my laptop. Not holding out a lot of hope though. Any more ideas much appreciated.

Mine is a very old HP compaq laptop running Win7.
It took me quite a while to find the correct setting to adjust and I assume it was caused by an update since I do not play with settings unless I really have to !

Just wondering if, when you switch off video you get your sound back (in both directions)?
If so it is the same problem I have. And it is definitely at my end. And no I have not solved it either!

Thanks again to everyone for their input, think I have it fixed now, it was a case of getting the ticks in the correct boxes, a pair of boxes both required a tick, I think I had one ticked but not the other, still not sure! The Self Test didn't work, now it does!
