Pop ups!
When I go to the PPrune web site there is a West Jet banner at the top of the page, this then changes to a full screen advertizment and totally erases all the posts. Now, I can live with this. but this wretched thing also erases my flight plans and eAPIS security data for crossing the US border, as a result I have been forced to cancell some charity Cancer patient flights,{eAPIS can only be done through the internet} to say Im totally pissed of with this would be the understatment of the year! This crap seems to be generated by the West Jet banner and also seems to have a timer, however if one clicks on the add the screen is imediatley blanked by their advertisment. We brought in the local computer "whiz kid" who stated that PPrune themselves will have to solve this outrageous situation. We sent our problem to the Mods but being Easter weekend have not heard back. If anyone has a solution please PM me, in the mean time I will be in the UK for a few days so about all I can do is close our company acount with West Jet and file a complaint with the CRTC {Canadian radio and telivision commision } and shut down my computer during my time away.We had in the past a similar situation generated by a company {now get this!} claiming to represent the Cancer fund raising group! To me this is as bad as "break and enter" of my house, I for one dont have the time or computer know how to shut these SOBs down, any help much apreaciated!
Which browser are you using? Once you have this sorted out I'd be using an ad blocker.

Have installed Malware, no cure, PPrune replied with "why would West Jet advertize on PPrune", my gues would be because they pay for the space to sell seats on their flights, however pissing of the likes of myself with a corporate travel budget is a strange way to build their load factors!

Taxydual, thanks yours did it, but Im still going to boycot West Jet for our deadheading crew flights, I dont care if it is a contractor doing this crap, they are responsible for their own adds, thanks again.

We believe the ad is targeted for Canada only, so we can't even reproduce it here; we will try to simply block it across the board.
As to the ad erasing any data, we don't believe that's possible from a banner ad. Perhaps something else interacted with your system to cause the text/data loss.
Thank you for reporting this; we're already working to remove the ad.

clunckdriver,
I have been seeing lots of Westjet ads too, but have never seen the behaviour you describe.

Maybe unrelated but for the past 2 days on every page (on any non mobile) I now get this instead of pop ups.

Not complaining but just intrigued. Nothing to do with my location as tried to access via a proxy and still the same result.

Take a look at the bottom of this page, and at the left of the dark blue bar is a drop-down menu. Try selecting the 'PPRuNe No Ads Style' option and see what happens.
