pprune playing up again

I keep getting security certificate invalid and page inactive notifications, apparently random, but at least half the time. It makes the site very tiresome to navigate.

My only guess is badverts again.

Virgin Media?

I've also noticed a few hang-ups. Mainly on any page with a Virgin Media advert.

It isn't slow Internet at my end - I'm on a 50 Mbps superfast system.

Awww - gottit!

I have to watch the loading bar and make sure it has absolutely finished. If I scroll early, everything goes pear-shaped.

I guess it's heavier ads taking longer to load that are the root cause.

Update - not a problem when I use mouse and keyboard, it only happens when using the touch-screen scrolling and keyboard.

As has often been said, Firefox + Adblocker is the solution.

"Mainly on any page with a Virgin Media advert."

What are these "adverts" of which you speak?

Not too sure whether cause or effect, but the past few days I have been fighting off attempts to hack my PC through excellently copied but false ' Update your Adobe ' messages....I then have to shut down my PC to get rid of the screen....

This only happens here on PPRune....

A quick search of my H/D and a thorough Virus scan ( Norton and MS Essentials ) shows nothing and the only connection with PPRuNe that I can find is a Favicon file in the Temporary Internet Files which won't delete, and when I open it it is text rather than the usual favicon 'pictures'....

Should add that I'm currently in N'Djamena so anything is possible, but any ideas anyone, please, why this attempted virus attack happens just here on PPRuNe ??

Hah...

Answer to my own question....

Probably the router / network infected here in the hotel or the offices where I'm working....

Does PPRuNe ' feed in ' local ads based on users' location, or based on users's IP address ? It seems this fake Adobe screen is being fed in through contaminated ads....

Cape - yes adblocker is great but it interferes with hotmail app and with uploads to my website. That's on Jelly Bean. I now have KitKat but too soon to say.
