Chrome: Back button refusing to work
I've started having problems with the back button ceasing to function with Chrome. It only works intermittently using the mouse, but I can get the page to back up more often, by using the ALT and arrow buttons. Sometimes the page still won't back up, even using the keyboard buttons.
I've cleared the cache and all temporary internet files, cleared all cookies, and even downloaded the latest version of Chrome. The problem still persists.
Not surprisingly, a search finds this is an all-too-common problem with Chrome - and if this response by a Google IT person (to a 3 yr old thread), is anything to go by, I'm guessing it's just another Chrome programming glitch??
The Google IT persons English doesn't give one any confidence in the correct use of programming text by Google IT people ("Thanks for your patience while we work for fix this!").

I'm using Windoze 7 with Chrome as the preferred browser, on a 5 yr old Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop. I have no other problems with the computer.

Well, I cranked up the laptop this morning, and it all works beautifully. 
I'd previously done a shutdown and restart, and nothing had changed, the problem was still there.
I guess all the electrons in Chrome just needed a little sleep, and some time out to think about what they were doing, and to re-arrange themselves.
Then again, it's entirely possible some IT operative within Google spotted my complaint, and thought, "Oh $h*t!! - I know what I did wrong yesterday, I'd better fix it fast!".

Disable all installed extensions and see if it will be fixed.
Does it apply on any site you visit or just one particular site?
If it's just one site, they usually put you into a loop with "meta redirect", it's either done in purpose or by accident.
You can try to right click the back button and it'll provide recent history or try clicking the back button 2x quickly.
