How do I quote another post in a reply?!

Never had a problem figuring it out in other forums, but on PPRuNe I've never been able to get the quote function to work!
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Either click the 'reply' button in the post, then when you get the new screen go to the http:// stuff at the top of the page, click at the end, and delete the figure 1 and hit enter. you will then get the whole of the post.

Alternatively copy and paste the bit you want to quote, and precede it in your reply by [ QUOTE ] and put [ /QUOTE ] at the end, omitting the spaces I've typed... otherwise I would have got
Quote:
and put
- which wouldn't have helped much.

Cut and paste required text and then click on the 3rd symbol from the right in the reply toolbar, next to the hash and youtube symbols. Just don't quote me on that

jimtherev's method is the one to go for. At least you know which post the quote refers to by clicking on the small arrowhead after his username.

Only if you want the whole of the post, otherwise go with SHJ.

No, not true. If I had wanted the whole post I would have left it like this:

but there's nothing stopping you editing the quote to emphasis the point you wish to quote as I did in two posts above.
