Outlook 2007 lost messages

Strange.
In my Outlook 2007 I had half a dozen messages yesterday (Thursday). Now the Inbox shows Today and Wednesday Tuesday etc but no "Yesterday".
I had to retrieve yesterdays stuff from another computer.
Seems to be lots of info on google but nothing obvious.
Any ideas please

IMAP, POP3 or Exchange Server mailbox?
If IMAP you may have exceeded the server size limit
If POP maybe you exceeded the max file size (depends on Windows version)

Outlook does have an inbox repair tool -

Thanks COCL2
Using POP3
I had tried to send a very large file (short video clip) but without success so gave up and deleted it. This may be the cause - exceeding "max file size"
Will wait till tomorrow to see if Yesterday (Today at present) shows OK

Update next day. Yes all seems OK now. It must have been "max file size" problem.
