Office 2010 Outlook no sync with Nokia???
Recently decided to invest in Office 2010 Business edition. Download and installation without any probs, Outlook imported all emails and addresses with calendar as the tin promised.
Used to sync my Nokia mobile(s) with Outlook as this was a perfect backup solution as well as having all necessary details where I needed them.
Since the upgrade the Nokia PC Suite does not find the data file anymore. Error message shows: Error and a blank field.
Trying to create a new sync setting offers to sync with Microsoft Outlook and various Lotus versions, the MS Outlook file, however, cannot be found as failed to initialize Outlook shows up.
De-installing PC-suite, downloading latest version, installing, same result. Nokia is trying to convince customers that the optimum choice these days is OVI, so downloaded this one, installed, configuration not possible with same result as above.
Mr. Gates announced his retirement, my one is not yet due, means I need to get this working again. Ms people are quiet (apart from the usual docket raised....) and the Nokia staff cannot help as this is most apparently a MS issue.
Anyone has had same problems or even success with the upgrade of Office? Need to find the culprit, cannot even "force" PC suite or OVI to use the correct datafile...
Thanks for any input.

Which version of O2010?
Issues with the Office 64 bit version have been logged. The 32 bit (X86 version) works fine, apparently.
Nokia Sync is not 64 bit compatible, so it is their fault!
Try the 32 bit jobbie.

I can affirm that Outlook 2010 syncs perfectly with Nokia PC suite (32 bit), 'out of the box'... tho' I had some worries after reading the various stuff such as that quoted. Also works with Ovi, but the one time I tried the synchronisation was a bit clunky, so I went back to what I knew. Yes, Nokia are trying to promote Ovi and ditch PCs - heaven knows why - but I gather that both sides are conversing on getting the 64 bit version working. Don't hold your breath, though.

Just an update for everyone who still has a problem.
Was still unable until yesterday to update the phone.
A new problem arose with the Office 2010, I had to call MS-support. That was a very time consuming event, eventually leading to a remote assisted uninstall of the Office 2010 (will my files and the Outlook data be lost..... ) and having a new version of Office 2010 installed.
Wow....all problems gone, and the Nokia syncs again...
"We will give you a better version, not the wobbly one you have...." what an interesting statement.
And yes, it is a better version, also it looks like the "old" Office 2010, and yes, no file lost.

You could always invest in a hosted MS Exchange account.
This is a mail service, which does away with any desktop sync software and you sync your Outlook, your handheld, and any other PC/Laptop/device with an Exchange server sitting on t'internet.
If you want a PM discussion about it, let me know.
(that ok from a commercial pov, SD?)

Nightrider,
Have a dig around
or
depending on your version of windows.
Whether your data files will be usable is another matter, but that's where they can generally be found, and Office/Outlook uninstall shouldn't touch them.
will my files and the Outlook data be lost.....
Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Code:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
