Not sure what these are?

Doing some housework in Add/remove progs.

I have two progs in my control panel that have been uploaded by MS auto updates.

Microsoft Visual C ++ 2005 Redistributable

ditto

Do I need them?

Just leave it. They help with installation of some programmes especially games/visual stuff.
If you do delete it you can download it again from Microsoft or some other sites.

Yep & If you use media center, it won't run without it. Leave well alone I would.
