Question Defragmenter

My defrag hangs almost as soon as I start it. I've tried the Microsoft suggested cure to no avail. Any suggestions?

Microsoft say to delete the Applog file. WTF's that?

System? Free disk space? Hva eyou run a checkdisk? Have you tried it in safe mode?
