Wireless Keyboard Receiver Problem
I have a problem with a MS Wireless Keyboard in that having worked fine for a couple of months, the receiver now does not seem to be activated when the computer is switched on. To get it to work I have to unplug the USB lead from the computer after Windows has finished booting and then put it back in. It then works okay and the PC gives the bing-bong – hardware recognised sound. It doesn’t matter which USB socket I use (main board or powered hub) – all give the same result.
I’m running XP Pro SP2 with a Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939 motherboard. When I first installed the keyboard software the USB keyboard support was not enabled in the BIOS, but everything worked. I have now enabled it but with no change in the problem.
I have reinstalled the keyboard software. In Device Manager everything shows as working okay, except that until I unplug/plug the USB lead there is no entry for Keyboard.
I’ve run msconfig and I’m 99% sure that I haven’t disabled anything relevant on startup by mistake. I’ve tried the keyboard receiver on my laptop and everything works okay.
Any ideas gratefully welcomed!
