Undelete HELP!

Mrs SCUD has just deleted ALL images on our digital camera instead of the SINGLE image she intended… Have searched web for ‘undelete’ utilities, but no free ones found – any leads that you erudite chaps/chapesses might pass on would be most gratefully received. If not, the SCUD late summer campaign of ’05 will go unrecorded (which is a pity as the weather in Burgundy was most photographically-friendly!).

Thanks for your help!

I am not 100% sure whether Mrs SCUD has deleted the images off of the camera or off of your PC. Either way a nice utility that was recommended to me was Search and Recover which although not free does have a 30 day free trial.

It should do the job for you although you may need to invest in a card reader if you do not already have one but they are not exactly expensive.

I meant to add that Search and Recover can be found here

Thanks for the help Phoenix, Compass and ZH. Unfortunately no luck with your suggestions. I’m connecting the camera (with SD card) directly to PC USB port, so I guess I’ll try the card reader approach next.

So far I’ve found that products which work (ie. Show you the deleted files but don’t let you actually recover them) have to be paid for. None of the freeware products I’ve tried seem to work. Ah well, back to the browser…

Thanks once again for prompt suggestions.

Just tried free undelete on the camera, after deleting 2 pictures, when connected to the USB port, it only found a file I had on the card which was put there using the card reader. Put the card in the card reader, and it didnt find the pictures either.

Perhaps it is worth you investing in a card reader so you can download/backup the card more often.

Good luck.

UPDATE:

Went out and bought a card reader and tried all suggestions again, without success. Logged on again to update and saw flynverted’s post. Gave PC Inspector Smart Recovery a go, with the card reader and… SUCCESS !!!!

Sincere thanks to flynverted and all contributing ‘puter prooners !! Hope this thread will help other ‘losers’ in the future!
