SPAMMER FINED $7m

Well done, MicroSoft, for having caught the ba$tard and brought him to justice!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4137352.stm

Hope you find a good use for the proceeds!

Personally I think that spammers should be boiled alive in their own excrement. But MS' action is a good start!

And they did it in a business as usual fashion...

I would like to see all IPS's take more action on this, and by default NOT deliver spam. I use two, one of them gives me te option to deliver or delete spam without delivering it, or redirecting it, the other one marks them as spam but still delivers.

My feeling is that is all ISP's deleted by default all mails with spam and containing viruses, the problem would be much reduced.

My 2d this am

Cheers

While finding and penalizing a spammer is a Good Thing...

I suspect that $7 million minus cost of the trial will have about as much effect on Microsoft's finances as finding a penny on the street would affect my finances.

But the deterent effect on spammers is worth while IMO.

I think the significant feature of the report is that the defendant agreed to pay the fine of £3.9 million. It shows how much money is involved in spamming.
