E-Mail Account Question
Hi all,
Happy New Year.
Looking at another question on this thread (didn't want to hijack it) I looked at the Internet Accounts window on my Internet Explorer.
Expecting to see four accounts (2 for me, 1 for the boss and 1 for junior), I found 4 dial up connections against our account names, and 7 Local Area Network Connections.
Do I need to keep the LAN connections or can I delete them? None are recognisable to me, nor do I access the sites (Infospace, SwitchBoard, to name but two).
As always, very grateful for your help.
Brian

If you do not have a LAN (more than one computer using a router for example) then you do not need the LAN connections and they can be safely disabled.
I wonder how they got there in the first place ?

Hi SoftTop,
I use F-Prot as my viruschecker and have Ad-Aware installed. Both are updated on a regular basis.
I also use the on-line free virus checker from Trendcall as a back up to everything else I do.
It was after reading the E-Mail Question thread by Devlin Carnet that I thought, Hmm, I wonder what's on my account stuff. Thats' when I found all the LAN stuff.
Following the advice from stripholderloader I deleted them all and they have not come back (yet). I don't go anywhere my mum wouldn't like on the Internet, limiting myself mainly to anything Cinook crash related (boring, I know - but see Mil Thread), and family tree stuff.
I wonder if they are put there on Win98se installation, or when I load a legit programme on my system (manufacturers 'gift' etc?).
If they (or anything similar returns), I'll be sure to shout.
As always,
I'm very grateful for the advice given so freely to dullards such as I.
Kind regards,
Brian
