Angel El Comercio Peru

Cosmic...
Picon eres jajaja! (I mean that in a good way, ah..)... don't let FlyingOW get into this discussion, he appears to be of some lonely island in Europe just off the northern coast of France there... he might heavily disagree with you about those disputed islands.... hahaha...!
Anyways, fresh off the press, ladies and Gents:
LAN Peru is officially hiring, this morning the Newspaper El Comercio Peru published in it's the following:

Empresa multinacional en el rubro aerocomercial, miembro de la alianza oneworld, requiere integrar a su equipo de trabajo:
COMANDANTES Y PRIMEROS OFICIALES A319 / B767
Responsable de operar las aeronaves, cumpliendo con las normas establecidas por la autoridad aeronáutica, así como con los altos estándares de seguridad y calidad establecidos por la Compañía.
Requisitos Comandantes A319 / B767 – (Código: CP)
- Licencia Piloto T.L.A. y apto médico vigente.
- Dominio del idioma inglés (nivel 4 OACI).
- Visa USA vigente (tripulante o turista).
- Experiencia mínima:
* 4,000 hrs. como total general.
* 2,000 hrs. en aviones reactores de transporte comercial.
Requisitos Primer Oficial A319 / B767 – (Código: FO)
- Licencia Piloto Comercial y apto médico vigente.
- Dominio del idioma inglés (Nivel 4 OACI).
- Visa USA vigente (tripulante o turista).
Los candidatos interesados que cumplan con todos los requisitos, enviar su cv no documentado hasta el Domingo 1° de Noviembre al correo electrónico [email address] consignando el código del puesto de su interés: CP o FO.
Reference: Aptitus - COMANDANTES Y PRIMEROS OFICIALES A319 / B767

So, I hope I gotten every ones attention with this one, but I am not sure if they are once again hiring foreigners or expats. Also, from asking around, don’t get your hopes up about getting direct entry command in the 767, it is highly disputed for upgrades from the Airbus fleet and only selected pilots with a lot of experience on type and age (over 60 I heard) might be considered. How many Capts and FO’s they need, I have no clue…
This in my personal opinion is an aggressive step to balance out future needs due to the latent threat Avianca’s merger with TACA brings. As the “I-don’t-hire-from-you-and-you-from-me-Gentlemen-Agreement” appears to be void (it looks like the owner of Avianca declared War on LAN’s monopoly in Peru) LAN does not want to be caught without Pilots again, as it happened before (hmmm history might repeat itself, or…?)
Good luck for all applicants…!

This is great news.

Hopefully we´ll know soon if foreign pilots can apply... even if they are from the other side of the border! Either way, it´s finally good to see an ad for pilots from this large company. OW tell us what´s cooking over there!

Cool On the Inside...

Latest Newsflash:
With the exception of one direct Entry Capt 767, LAN Peru will hire until June next year the following:
24 FO's for the A-319
16 Direct Entry Captains for the A-319.
Internally, there will be a lot of movement, too, 12 FO's from the A319 Upgrade to FO 767, 6 FO's 767 are upgrading to Captain A319, 8 Seat Changes in the A319 and 18 Upgrades from Captain A319 to Captain 767.
Hope that shows the picture a little, as I heard rumors from colleagues outside LAN that this employment call was a "farce" for Tax reasons...

Thanks for the info Eagle.

Now, if you can get information as accurate as that, you can probably find out if the foreigners may apply.

You can always apply... I would if I were you, especially if you have Colombian, Bolivian or Argentinian Citizenship. I though don't know if they will call/contact you.
Harlock, Base in Costa Rica is news to me. What I did hear is that LPE will start serving direct Rio and Montevideo.
By the way, it is confirmed, no Direct Entry B-767 Capts.

Argies can apply, everybody can apply , but for LAN PERU, if you are argentino, is just like if you are from China or anywhere else, no difference or benefit, you still consider an “extrangero”. The exemption is the foreign pilots that are already flying in the LAN group. So for those that are not “peruchos”, you need to find out if they will be hiring foreign people again. During my last conversation on March 2009 with Human Resources, they told me “hiring is frozen for now, due global crisis”, plus an “insider” said that the “sindicato” was making noise about the “foreign pilot importation”. But this was 6 months ago.
I passed all the hiring process , even got a class date and they canceled just months before . They told me that I will be on the first group to star training once they start hiring again, but it did not happen yet . I am a foreign by the way.
May be, again, they are desperate for pilots like it happened during September 2008, and are considering to get foreign people, I don’t think so.
Good luck to all.

I did apply. Although I talked with a friend today who told me he was told no foreigners this time. Not a very reliable source though, so still not sure.

I am not peruvian but I have permanent residency visa (Carnet de Extranjeria por tiempo indefinido) and Peruvian CPL IR ME Frozen ATPL.
I had flown 3100 hrs in DC10 for Cielos del Peru Airlines (2003-2007)

I already sent my application but I did not have any answer.
I know from some Peruvian friends about LAN Peru has taking interviews for two weeks.

Anyway, I am flying back to the dark side next Sunday.

DECs also being considered, which is a sad state of affairs for current senior FOs in a 300 strong pilot-workforce! I have always maintained, that in this company anything can and does happen. Which is why I am not even remotely surprised

Good luck to any FOs joining today, you'll be looking at 8-10 years 'til command, I did 5 and I am in the top 20% of that seniority list.

OW out

PS. Flying SH domestic at LPE sux big time!
