Can some one please tell implications on a private pilot license when undergoing radiology and hormone treatment for prostate cancer. I am considering down grading my PPL to recreational before my next medical in Nov 2015
Thank you

As one who is undergoing treatment once you start radiation treatment the doctor will suspend your medical for the person of radiation plus a few weeks for follow up assessment. This is specifically for CPL / ATPL, I am not sure about a PPL holder. The best thing is to check with your AME.

Thanks. I assumed that is what will happen. Just would like to know how many hoops I will have to jump through to get back in the air as TC will have the final word.

My medical expires 01 Jan 15 and I had my six monthly medical on 16 Dec 14 but the AME could not certify my medical as TC had sent a letter stating that an assessment of my treatment was needed before renewal.
Make sure that copies of all your medical procedures, MRI's, blood work, hormone and radiation treatments etc, are sent to your AME who will then forward the info on to TC. They must be kept in the loop.
My best guess is that it will be 10 - 12 weeks from the start of radiation treatment before I will get my medical evaluated.
If you require further info you can PM me
