Aviation Document Booklet (ADB) Expired
Hi Respected Members,
My friend who did his complete pilot training in Canada has his ADB expired.
It expired in August 2013.
Now he has been hired by the national carrier of his country and they want him to validate his CPL before he can do his Type Rating. Being current in flying is not a concern.
However there are two forms online on Transport Canada website.
One is the 'ADB Application' (for application of new ADB or renewal of ADB but 90 days prior to expiry) and the other form is the 'ADB Re-Issue' Form (For ADB that is lost, stolen or rendered illegible and need's a replacement as TC website says).
>Which one should he apply for?
>Also the C1 Medical expired on 1st April 2013. Does that mean he has to write the written test and do the Flight Test for CPL again?
Thanks in advance :-)

Use the ABD Application form (you can apply UP TO 90 days prior to expiry) but if its expired use this form anyway.
Regarding the medical, I believe that you will need an up to date medical to renew the licence.

canuck51,
I'm glad I perused this thread. I wasn't aware that the ADB had an expiry date! Luckily, I see mine expires in 2016. I've made a note in my calendar.
The whole ADB saga strikes me as bureaucratic stupidity. You can't fit your licence in your wallet anymore and it doesn't include your radio licence!
As an aside, when did they change the passport validity to 10 years?

So if that abortion that T.C. calls a license expires and you have a valid medical but the abortion expires and you just keep on flying what can they to you?
For that matter how will they even know you are flying?
