WJ Main, AC or TS ?

hello all

given the present situation of aviation in Canada and the differences between those airlines, which one would you pick to work at and why ?

If I were looking for work in this day and age I would not go the airline route, {Im sure you dont need an explantion as to why I say this} but if you do go for the heavy metal, its AC by a wide margin! Just remember when you are reading posts on this site that most of the negative stuff is the result of folks recieving "PFO" letters. and not based on real experience working for any of the majors, good luck.

Three things to consider: (1) Union. (2) Union. (3) Union.

AC by a wide margin IMO...

Pay, work conditions, upgrade times, variety of types, variety of flying. More potential in all regards.

thanks guys for your replies.
My problem is like this one: when comes the time to choose a car, they all look the same in the end. you can look at aircraft, destination, operations, retirement plan, pay, travel benefit, number of days off, guaranted days off, sick days, company culture, company comunication, hotels, layovers, whatever plus or minus will financial reports give... same thing in the end.
Clunk : besides heavy iron, I can only see bush or corporate, were you thinking about something else ?

If they all look the same to you you are not looking very close!

In reality you will probably choose the first one that offers you a job... if you are ever offered a job. Positions in these airlines are the most sought after in the country and most who want it will never get it... Good luck though.

Kesskidi, here goes, Survey, Medivac, good corporate, {watch out, there are some bad ones}, Im not hiring right now, but you would enjoy working for us, Floats, some good lodges to fly for, some not so good,Provincial Air services for various Pronvincial Governments, RCMP,Nav Canada. There are others out there, even smart private jet owners who sit in the back and pay experienced pilots to keep them alive, try to avoid the ones who want to "play pilot", with a few exceptions they are a bloody danger to the rest of us.Fisheries and coastal patroll, the list goes on.The main thing you MUST understand is that sitting up front is only part of the job outside of the airlines, wheras in the airline world one has much more backup, however one also has les controll over the opperation, Good Luck!

Lots of times you don't get to choose... they choose you and you go from there.

It's also more important to think of things from a happiness point of view vs a money and tin point of view... that's why I have stuck with a small 702/703 operator...

As much as people love the money that unions bring... I've never seen anyone who worked under a union truly happy. Just about every one of them is counting the days to retirement and complaining how the company is screwing them out of their time and a portion of their six figure salary and pension.

One thing about TS... look at how many tour operators have folded over the last few years.. and look at the seasonal and cyclical nature of the business and the rapid increase in the use of temporary foreign workers.

Up until a year or so ago I would say WestJet, hands down. Today I would say anywhere but WestJet.
