Anyone know what happened to this YUL-CDG flight? Left late like everyone due wx but got as far as Maine before turning 180 deg and landing at yyz! Any mx issues?

There was a "substantial shift" in N1 Vibs, #2 engine. Post landing inspection revealed a pretty good ice build-up on the engine spinner. Probably some ice broke off and was ingested.

Tks BH. Was some major snow storm yesterday.Wonder why they went all the way to yyz instead of back to YUL or even YQB? Not judging just curious.

YYZ has more Maintenance capabilities at the current time. At the time of the occurance, MOC & Dispatch would be aware that we would probably need to boroscope the engine, and depending on the findings, possibly replace that engine. We're all set up for this type of work in Toronto.
Of course, if it had been a more severe type of occurance, the flight would have diverted to the closest appropriate airport. After all, we've done engine changes in Alaska, out on the ramp.
The curious thing to me about this flight is the equipment. I've not been aware of the 777 being used on this route ( as in this case), it's always been a 767. Maybe it's a case of higher loads during the holiday period.

Hmmm... ok. I've worked a lot of 767's that depart YYZ, stop in YUL, then go on to CDG. Pretty recently, too. Maybe it's a different flight # earlier in the day? Oh well, doesn't matter. Or I could be confused... maybe I'm thinking of the flight that goes on to Brussels from Montreal.
