Doesn't look like a stock Apache tail but does resemble an Apache with the Geronimo conversion I believe.....but it's been close to 40 years since I flew one so memory may be flawed.

Possibly a low altitude engine failure. My fuzzy recollection of the Apache's s/e performance were that the function of the remaining engine was to take you to the scene of the crash and nothing more. Unfortunate but possibly true in this case.

There are several different conversions that can be found on the Piper Apache.

The best one is the full Seguin Geronimo conversion with Lycoming 180 H.P. engines.

The full Seguin conversion makes for a very good performing airplane.

The less powerful conversions of course will have lower performance on one engine.
