Canada The great white north. A BIG country with few people and LOTS of aviation.

Unhappy Internal Reference

Can anyone enlighten me regarding how important it is to have an internal reference in terms of getting that first interview with one of the majors, or regionals for that matter, in Canada? Will it help? No family members work there, but I do have some acquantances that say they will put on a positive spin from the inside. Is it possible that if one were well connected that the minimums would possibly be reduced?

I really don't think it would help in reducing the minimums, but good references from reputable and high profile sources, combined with a good work history and education, attitude and ambition all contribute to impressing the powers that be that an interview would be warranted.
