Canada The great white north. A BIG country with few people and LOTS of aviation.

Question Cathay Hiring ATPL Canadains?

Does anyone have any info on hiring at Cathay? I have had my application in for over two years now. No calls for an interview yet. The company just sends me these postcards of a 747-400. I have 3000 hours and an ATPL. Any info would be great!

Well some company's policy is that they don't even answer applicants that don't have the minimum amount of hours (they are discarded) and of course, some at least send "something" to let you know that they did receive your CV but that you don't meet their requirements. The basic "minimums" are different for each one, 4000, 5000 or more. I just think that if that's the reason, if they are going to send you a postcard, they could have at least sent you a guideline. Maybe if you sent this post on the Fragrant harbour forum, they might have some info. Keep trying...

Cathay can offer some great short term opportunities and good life experience but it's not a career airline. If you can get into AC I think in the long run you'll be better off.

Good luck

I forgot to mention that Cathay is not too keen on Canadians. The snobby British management does not understand fighting for what you believe in.

Chad, CX will be interviewing in YVR around the end of March or early April from what I've heard. If you are serious about coming to this ****h0le, get on the phone now!!
P.S. Stop using your real name on PPRuNe. CX management hate this website and those who post on it. I think that they even tried to have it shut down a couple of years ago!!!
