Agencies- What do you think?

Having been in the industry for many years, most of the jobs I have obtained have been off my own back direct to the airline. One I was asked to apply and one was through a personal recommendation.

I have been and I am registered with several agencies and just wonder what the general consensus was...do they help?

It is frustrating when you see positions advertised through an agency, you KNOW you fit the criteria, but they don't contact you!
In one case I have had to submit my CV for a 3rd time! Although I was sent a letter confirming I was now on the database!

Having said that one agency keeps me posted about everything and are up front and direct. Another one is equally positive, but the rest...well...

So, is it better to go it alone? What do YOU think?
