But I assume that one of the problems now faced in seating unreserved groups together is that others on the plane not only have reserved seats, but have paid for them. Thus, it is probably more difficult now for GAs and FAs to scramble PAX around at the last minute to ensure a group is sat together than it was when reservations were complimentary. People who have paid money for their current seat are likely both to more intransigent as well as owed a refund of their reservation payment.

I think there's more chance of your daughter being in danger sat next to her dad, grandad or uncle. Think about that when you give the likes of me ( middle age, single and travelling alone) a look that could kill.

Furthermore, I have little faith in those who run airlines. Their rapacious attitude to their customers appears to have no bounds and I do not trust them not to make money
If you want to make a small fortune in Aviation, start with a large fortune!
But my nine year old daughter (age 9)
and three kids aged 9, 14 & 16.

Amazing!...I've yet to meet a 9-year old who was aged anything other than 9
Of course the "think of the children, trust nobody, they're all peados" brigade would ask why you've been meeting nine and three quarter year old girls in the first place !
(not accusing you of anything, please do not misconstrue !)
