Question Path to the Front/Leave of absence

Hi guys?

Can anyone please tell me what leave of absence is. How long does it normally last for and how many of it can you have a year.
How much does it vary from company to company
I ask this because I am about to commence work as a FA and at the same time take the ATPL exams I was just wondering how i would be able to take time off to fly and build hours when the time comes.

Jet, you should be able to complete your flying experience while on days off and either side of standbys,eg your stby started at 1300 - 2300 go fly in the morning and reverse. friend of mine did just that getting his ATPL while on stby, depends who yr planning on working for I guess, think yr chances of leave wo pay would be slim as a new recruit and the company may take it as a lack of interest.
lots of luck
