Hi all,

Just wondered, when I eventually get my PR, I'd like to apply to become cabin crew again. Do airlines or agencies here ask for certificates or any proof of flying experience?

Most Aussie airlines require a Senior First Aid Certificate and a Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate. Bothe are quite easy to obtain. As for previous flying experience, just put in on your resume. You can be guaranteed, they WILL do a reference check anyway.

If your PR is due fairly soon, I would suggest you start applying now. Get your name on the lists, it might be another 6-12 months before there is anymore movement.

I am about to do the exact same as you, but in London... How funny!

Thanks for the reply. I'm coming up to 3yrs of being in Australia now, so my PR is nearly here . I've had my RSA for ages and I just did my Senior First Aid a week ago, so I'm getting closer to it all I suppose.

With the certificates, I meant more relating to school/college stuff in addition to the rest but that's cool, I've got my resume up to date with regards to references etc.

I read your earlier posts about going to Easyjet, good luck with it all, I'm sure you'll enjoy flying!!! It can be great fun.

With regards to school/college certificates they will most likely check them. It would seem like most airlines here simply presume that you have at least completed a basic education. I am yet to have my PHD in marine biology, not my masters in clinical psychology questioned by the recruitment officers at our national carrier. I must have a very trustworthy face.

It might be wise to use the time you have now, to get that kind of paperwork in order. Just so there's no problem during the recruitment process. Our airlines can be very pedantic during recruitment, and seeing as there are so many applicants, it is easy for them to brush your's aside if something isn't in order immediately when they need it.

Friend of mine lost her place in Ground School, because of paperwork delays with the company's own doctors. She was lucky enough to get into another 6 weeks later. sometimes there isn't another ground school for 6 months!

I know of one applicant who has a master's degree who applied to an Australian major (whose educational requirements at the time were HSC - ie' A-level equivalent) for a CC job. Naturally, you can't get a master's without a first degree, and you can't get that without an HSC. Said applicant had enclosed their master's transcript with the application as evidence of education but was then told 'No, we need to see your HSC'... so it appears you need to do/provide exactly what it says on the form, as lateral thinking might not be one of their strong points...

The applicant got in, by the way, and has been generally loving it for a number of years now. So good luck!!

Hi, I just want to Fly;

My english friend and ex-colleague is a CS for DJ so I might ask her what she did in relation to supplying certificates from school, if at all. I'm going home in a few months for a 3weeks, so I'll definitely be using the time to get that in order. Good thinking on your part
