That one sounds more like an off the cuff joke.

Quite possibly, but it was overheard on a domestic flight in ZA so anything is possible.
Years ago I heard a passenger asking if we'd be able to see Table Mountain when landing ....... at JNB!

""My objection is people who turn up in the queue and have no end of
bits and pieces to take out of pockets - which invariably they don't
start organising until they get to the trays and so it takes ages
- and then have broaches, large metal belt buckles, metal shoes
to add to it".

Where exactly should 'thick' passengers put these pocketed items when they're waiting in line for a tray???

Maybe the title of the thread should be 'Thick Passenger and Thick Cabin Crew' comments.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Most passengers have hand luggage - try putting it in there whilst queueing or is that to simple? Why is it people remove their tiny brains when they enter an airport? I am a regular passenger and I am amazed how stupid people are when they know they have to remove metallic items, belts, shoes etc

To say this is thick crew comments is asinine.

I have to confess, this was ACTUALLY my own grandmother; We were flying as a family to Washington on United and granny wanted to purchase some duty free. Cabin crew were lovely and VERY patient when she queried the fact that the onboard prices were in US$ She then asked when the USA was going to convert to Euros as her home country (no names but it's where leprechauns come from!) had had to!!!!

I love the idea of the most powerful currency in the world being absorbed into the Eurozone Doh!

If they had meekly accepted Saddam Hussein's threat to switch to trading oil in E instead of USD, ie rather than invade him as a result, they might have had to.
