Hey Filthy rich...I think differently but I think Virgin have an issue with age but if the previous poster knows differently, I can't argue with that however my info is differently but nevertheless try and prove me wrong. good Luck!

They can't officially discriminate on age but I think it depends who interviews you...they seem to have an unwritten rule.

You may have read they were sued for age discrimination a few years ago and have recently been sued for discrimination based on a crew members mental health and also after sacking two pregnant woman.

Carguard, do you mean they have cancelled ground schools or assessment days to fill future ones?
If it's ground schools, which base?

Hey crewdom! Good to hear from a fellow brisbanite my response from them was that I had moved onto the next stage which was reference checks and that they would be contacting my references within the next week (so this was two weeks ago for me too). None of my referees have been contacted yet though. Sounds like we are in similar positions! Here's hoping we hear something soon!

Question

Thanks Miss billy My email never actually said I had continued on to the next stage it just mentioned my application is being reviewed and they will get back to me. It will be understandable if the next few courses have been cancelled as mentioned above because this may be a reason as to the delayed response I hope. I wonder if these cancellations include Brisbane?
Can Anyone give a more detailed explaination as to the cancellation of courses

what to do!!

Hi all, I am new to this forum and not sure if this is the right place to post this I'm just looking for some advice from people who know what they are talking about. I am currently working for toll dnata as a ground crew member i have been working their for 2 weeks now and i am enjoying it, I have also been progresses through to the reference checks for a VB ground crew job. I am just wanting people opinion on which job i should take if succesfull for Vb, Tolls pay rate is a lot higher then VB toll being about $28 flat rate that means working early or late even public holidays it does not change where as VB is only like $17 but you get penalties etc, I have heard that working for toll i get to do a lot more stuff and it may be easier to move up in the company but job security may not be the best, I would like to work at virgin and work my way up as high as i can get I'm just wanting peoples views on all of this. cheers

I haven't heard about any cancellations. There is a ground school going ahead in Sydney base starting 28th May. Not sure about other bases.

Thanks hb78! My referees keep asking me when they're going to hear from virgin; it's tough to be patient but it will all be worth it in the end (hopefully!). Fingers crossed for scheduled BNE base ground schools soon! Good luck to all wishing & waiting

Chch CC

Hi there, I had an interview on Wednesday (9th) for CC based in Christchurch and it was a one on one since the earthquakes have changed how they do their assessments and I got a call yesterday to say I'm through and they will be calling my referees! Did anyone else go through from this? I know they are rushing it through since the training begins in Auckland on the 5th of June so they're not mucking around.
I just have to sit the online test, how many people are declined after this part of the recruitment does any one know? Or is it mainly just a process?
Then it's the medical and give notice at my job! Fingers crossed for me because I'm dying to get it!
I'm 34 and was concerned about the age thing, but think my masters degree and the fact that I speak Japanese may have given me enough edge for them to not be too concerned?
Any tips are very welcomed!!!

Filthy rich, virgin recruited for long haul earlier this year, the ground school is running at the moment. As far as I know the don't run recruitment drives too often - maybe once a year due to the low attrition rate...
Sorry I don't have any exact information about future recruitment but considering they just did one I wouldn't hold my breath for anything anytime in the near future. Hope this helps.
