male batches

Hello guys, I've heard from a cabin crew member already in Doha that in December 09 will be formed 5 male batches.

Emma Gemma and Usagi

Hi guys! Sorry to bother you again with the same question, but last time I asked it I didn’t get any answer to it. This time I address my question directly to Emma Gemma and Usagi. You both guys are very nice and helpful to the other people on this forum. You always give them good and true answers, so I believe you will be also that nice to me and will share with me the knowledge and experience you have. Guys can you let me know if you had to make two spinal x-rays, one in our country and another one when you got to Doha? Or maybe you were just required to bring your already made spine x-ray film to Doha? I am quite curious about this matter because I know it is unhealthy if you do this too often. Could you also share your experience and give some info about the other medical examination in Doha? Is it exactly the same examination as we do in our countries, or maybe it is less or more detailed? What are actually the medical exams made in Doha? I will be very grateful for your answers. Wish you very nice Sunday!

hi there!

you'll have to do only one X-ray here in Doha, you do it on government premises since it is required for the permit to stay in the country but they might just use it for the company too, i really dont know..
the rest of the examinations: youll have to do everything again more or less exactly how you did it at home. and when i say the same, i mean the same eg. they make you read the thingy chart with each eye closed for the eye test. nothing is out of the ordinary

Usagi thank you very much for your answer! You are a doll! It looks like it is a long way full of all kind of tests to become CC.

I have a few questions for you
1. Do we get a pillow there?
2. Is there a cafetaria in the building where we will go for training?
3. Does QR go to montreal, Canada?

i think thats all for now.. And I am still waiting for my ticket and visa.. I am supposed to fly on the 13th Nov, but nothing from them yet...

Please answer to my questionss

thank you

can anyone confirm this?

5 batches of male stewards in December? So this means QR is actively looking for male candidates?

1. they provide a set of sheet/pillow cases and to have what to use them on, they also provide pillow (notice the singular, unless previous occupant was nice enough to leave extra)
2.there is a cafeteria where you will most probably be waiting until after 12 to elbow your way to the pizza (pepperoni yummy), or if you're more health inclined, then fruit slices, salads (again notice my not using "fresh", since it really is a lottery). However, all throughout the day (up to 5 pm I think) you can find sandwiches, burgers, tea, coffee, small bottles of water. All in all, you won't starve during training.
3. Their site shows that you can book a ticket to Montreal, so...

All the best!!!

Last edited by flybutterfly : 9th November 2009 at 19:26. Reason: guess I was hungry talking about all the yummy's from the cafeteria

Thanx for the info, flybutterfly!
Just a little correction. Qatar does not fly to Canada by now. In the website you can find that destination, but it is operated by a partner airline. If you click on Booking, then on route map, you will see the destinations where Qatar flies to. Just looking to the destination list on the home page, you will find all QA destinations, but there appear also all the flights that are available on code-share partners.

By the way, I used that map to catch all the destinations and then look for the IATA codes on the list. I'm learning them all, so that I got I bit advance on training subjects That could be a good advise to those of you waiting for DOJ and bored at home hehe...

Hi, have you called QK today, regarding your departure day or medical clearance?

Hi topgun!

No, I didn't call because yesterday I recieved an email from my coordinator, telling that they have forwarded my medical documents to their doctors, and as soon as they have news, will update them to me.

It seems that many of us waiting recieved this same email in the last hours. At least the ones that have this same coordinator.

Hope clearance to come soon

marriage status

hi guys,

I'm married. Would it be a problem if I attend an open day in Bucharest(I'm Thai not Romanian)? Do they accept married people?

What's their style? How should I dress for an open day(short sleeve suit or long sleeve)? How long is the length of shirt?

Thanks in advance

huh it doesnt matter if you are already married.. as long as you look young and dynamic they'll hold interest for you.. and for the style, be very formal.. and dress as they have told.. check the website or earlier posts here then you'll know exactly wat they want.. basically just go there looking like a CC for QR

i dont think that skin colour matters.. but skin health does.. the tan isnt an issue as long as your skin is healthy.. go to the OD you have nothing to lose.. good luck there are very good comments and pointers posted earlier on this forum.. check it out..

and something else i'd like to ask to the people who are or have been training in Doha.. i know that guys and girls are separate during training classes.. but is it held in the same building? or are there 2 training schools totally separate? 1 for boys and 1 for girls? thanks

@lilywings

im also waiting for my medical clearance, as of yesterday it was 3 weeks since i sent my medical forms off, and 2.5 weeks since they said they had forwarded them.... i think im going to call them, they are certainly not themselves hurrying =(

do they have many admin staff? is the reason it is taking so long because they are over worked? people being put bottom of work pile etc?
