11 weeks since I made the interview. This is getting too long, and my situation is getting more difficult every day passing here.
I wonder if I should phone Doha's recruitment Office, asking for status. All the people in my batch from August Open day are in the same situation. Only one girl got her DOJ and started the trainning at the beginning of October.
What would you advise me to do? I think I will give them a call in case I don't get any answer till monday.
Also I re-sent a couple of times an email asking for confirmation of receival, but death silence is the only answer
Hmm... I was thinking of a possibility. Last time my recruiter lady answered me, she wrote emails to many people waiting, on the same day. So maybe she is waiting again until everyone on this batch is ready to go, and then she will send all the emails on a row. Could it be?
hey ice.. calm down, i mean if everyone is still waiting then i dont think that you need to worry.. and its the same thing here.. only 2 of us that i know of have recieved there DOJ the rest are still waiting.. dont know wats going on there.. but i hope that we'll be cleared soon.. hope that this week is going to be our week like my friend nick says, the fruit of patience is really sweet.. if ever you call them let us know how it went..
just saying hello..and how frustrated i am these days...
i'm realising each day how much i want to be cabin crew!
just today i had a job offer from a very well-known multimedia company here.. very interesting job offer i must say, considering i have a degree in design and multimedia..
but i'm thinking a lot about this.. i still love design but
it seems i'm so much more attracted to be a flight attendant!!
I'm just more passionate about this..
In fact one day I was offered a designers job at another top company, which I declined because I was working at this cafe...and I told the guy that I honestly prefer serving customers all day long and get a smile back for having well taken care of them..For me it was really rewarding.. even though it was much harder work. just loved it!
I just can't see myself stuck in front of a computer...that doesnt smile at you? haha
I like moving..all the time! i just feel like i deserve to be cabin crew..been through so much already..
Sorry for this post guys.. its not at all related to the posts. it's just how i'm feeling today..
cant wait for the next OD in Mauritius? or i might just save some money and fly somewhere to get to the OD... i'd be doing some traavelling anyway
Hey guys,
Just thought of a silly question: Are cabin crew allowed to smoke water pipe (I saw one on a promo video for Qatar)?
Oh and are we allowed and do you think we should bring some food with us (I mean for the first couple of days), cause I saw this blog of one girl that bought 200$ worth of food...
you can do whatever you want in your free time so if you want, just go to the souk and enjoy your shisha (or whatever they call those things haha)
and well you can bring as much food as you want but make sure its not against customs and country rules (e.g. NO PORK) . i bought some silly stuff that i thought i might not find here myself, like chilli beans powder, my favourite biscuits, sweets... so i guess its alright. but actually its pretty unnecessary coz you find almost everything here.. so dont pack stuff like canned beans/peas/vegetables.. luncheon.. fruits... whatever i hope you see what i mean. you arrive, you go out on the street and im sure you'll find at least one grocery store right there.
As far as I remember, if they did not change things, they will provide for you the very first day something to snack on (small cereal bag, milk biscuits, small bottle of juice). So you needn't worry about food the very first day. Usually, if you do not want to go all the way to the large shopping malls (lulu, city centre...) by taxi, there are plenty of small grocery shops usually around the accommodations.
i mean im guessing that usagi means anything that wont be against the qr rules.. just do anything, as long as you wont be breaking the rules.. or does qr have rules which state, "after classes stay at home!" haha..
well, i would advise you to take the job.. In this way you can save some money dear.. If ever you get a job offer from QR, you can use the money to do your stuffs like medicals, vaccinations, shopping etc..All these things really cost a lot.. Its not peanut..all these stuffs can cost around 2000 USD or more..from the 1st day of interview till now, its like 2000 USD spent..or more..because you need to buy yourself a suit for the interview, the make up, shoes, bags, beauty parlour.. once you get your first congratulations email, you need start with your medicals..medicals will cost you around 200 USD.. Now, the 2nd congratulations email, the one where they tell you that you are medically fit for the job.. Now, the show begins.. All the shopping, stitching of suit, buying shoes, clothes, cosmetics, contact lenses etc.. O god.. Stephen, since you're a boy, it may cost you around 1500USD (total expense from day 1) but not less..
So, its time to start working hard and wait for an OD.. Dont lose time...This applies to anyone else in this forum.. Dont wait for QR..Start saving your money.. heyy guyzz, let me tell you that i ordered a netbook and i am soo excited about it.. I will not be able to take my laptop since my brother will be using it.. thats why i have to buy one for me...
you have to be at your apartment sleeping safe and sound 12 hours before any duty.
(duties are flights, training and even speeches, i know this because some crew have been fired because they were not home 12 hours before AAB speech !!!).
and yes, there are cameras filming everything in the accomodation lobbies.
still doha is not such a bad place, it is boring but you will be flying out most of time anyway so you dont really feel it that much.
whilst on layovers you can do pretty much whatever you can as long as you are not flying "air india" or "korean air" as some flights feel because of the crew.
Hi dear.. Its me bothering you guys again with my questions.. What are the colours that we are allowed to wear whilst on training.. is there any colour restrictions? colour of suits of course../ Business attire.
Qrcc's post is accurate. Rules in QR are like mushrooms after rain (they seem to grow over night-well in less than that) and yes, some do have an impact on what you do in your " own" time (after classes). Sometimes, they even get applied retroactively.

As far as I know, there is no strict requirement regarding colour of business attire. As long as it is decent and does not reveal navel, or other such enticing bodily attributes , it should not meet frowning upon from the Almighty.

Sorry, I took over what was addressed to you. Couldn't help myself
I can understand some of QR rules, doha is a small city and everything you do is known in a short time specially amongst cabin crew which is still a small number compared to EK and QR has to keep all clean and neat in the sandbox.
still some of the rules are completely pointless and many crew are forced to break them in order to have a normal life, they are still not used to deal with western people.
some senior cabin crew still say whilst on board that new joiners are dumb! how amazing is that? the thing is that these cabin crew are all from asia and new joiners are western , racism?
i am happy in doha but this is due to the fact that i have good friends and i try to cheat myself by thinking about what to do on my next layover.
Hello Everybody here! Congratulations to all of you who recently got their medical clearance. I had my FI two weeks ago and now I am waiting for an email from Qatar. I' ve been reading this forum with a big interest and found many useful informations here. I would like to ask a question that I think can be easily answered by someone who is already in Doha. I was wondering if potential CC when they get to Doha will have to go through the same medical exams that they already had in their countries? E.g. Will I have to have spine X-ray in Doha if I already had it made in my home country. Please let me know. Thanks!
If the senior crew treat the younger crew like sh*t, or are impatient with them.. then they havent learnt anything in this job.. i mean they are seniors so they need to help the younger ones (because they were once juniors too).. having worked in asia, i can say that i have experienced this "racism" thing. but this is present everywhere, when i say everywhere i mean companies around the world (not only asia) that has block heads as seniors to guide the newbies.. however, i met really cool seniors who are great people. these guys and girls i'll never forget them because they were always so helpful no matter wat.
and to all seniors and future seniors of QR help the younger ones, koz you'll become an icon for them in their careers
I think there are nasty seniors everywhere, even in European airlines, and not only in QR! There were, and probably still are, some nasty and horrible seniors at QR who will make your life miserable or be harsh to you and wouldn't wait for a second to report you but you need to remember that they are under A LOT OF PRESSURE from both the company and the other crew. One mistake and they will either be dismissed or demoted and the most common reason is that they have been reported by a junior crew member (hoping to be promoted themselves for doing that).
It's sad but this it how the atmosphere is down there!
I'm new here!!!!!! Is there someone from the last manchester open days?????? I had my congratulation e-mail the 9th of october and now my medical reports is in doha medical center... So I'm waiting now for 1 month did someone knows how long it will take to have a departure date???
