20th Feb

Hi Everyone,

I have booked myself onto the assessment on 20th Feb,I was wondering if anyone else is going to be there on that day? Im booked for 12:30. Also It says in the email that they will send a link so I can input my 5 years references, but there wasn't a link on either email that I received. I saw on an earlier thread that other people had this problem.

Good luck to everyone who has got assessments coming up!

James

national insurance number

hi all,
I've received my assessment day booking right now but they ask to bring with me the National Insurance number for non-Uk citizens ( I'm from Italy); what is it and how can I obtain it??? I'm obliged to have it for the assessment?

thank's for all.

Sognandoil380,

Don't worry about the national insurance number! This is something you would need to apply for through HM Revenue & Customs once you have been given employment.

A friend of mine, not British citizen, completed a temporary contract without the national insurance number. It's actually for you as to how much taxes you should pay.

At the interview, explain that you will apply for it should you be successful as you are not a citizen of the UK! This is what my friend did and it worked out well for him.

HZ123, I'm a cabin crew selector with BA and 90% of what you just wrote is utter nonsense.

The majority of what HZ has said is common sense stuff - how can it be nonsense?

Some advice?

Snowbound,

As crew selector, wouldn't you be the best person to give aspiring candidates advice, as opposed to just telling someone their advice is 'nonsense'?

I personally followed similar advice to HZ's, and was successful at the interview. It might not be the 'make all or break all' of your interview, but it certainly helps.

Just for info

Dear all,
is there anybody in the forum from italy who has been working for BA or something else? Just to know and receive some informations about working in UK . I mean, I live in Italy and I would like to know if is it possible (or human!!) to use facilities to come back to my country by working in Heatrow and if it's necessary to have a car in London .

Thank you very much for all your info!!

Because Student88, common sense doesn't always guarantee success.

Well looking at your constructive feedback snowbound it is obvious who the voice of reason is between the pair of you - and it isnt you!

Nothing worse than people coming in with criticism but not offering an alternative view. Poor show snowbound!

HZ123 - you give sensible advise, like you have always done on these forums. And I am speaking as someone who has worked in this industry for 16 years - 10 of which spent as crew (and all of them saying everyday "...L&G, welcome on board this British Airways service to....)

I'm not on here to tell people what to do in an interview. HZ123 is giving advice which I believe to be of little value and possibly a little misleading.....end of!!

Bit contradictory is it not?? And having flown for 10 years Saying " L & G, Welcome to blah blah, blah " doesn't automatically mean you're in a position to give advice either.

Nothing contradictionary about it whatsoever - you criticise an opinion stated by someone who is willing to help fellow posters without offering a counter opinion and therefore quite possibly confusing those who look for advise on these forums.

In regards to the latter part of your post you are making my argument quite obvious all by yourself.

But then experience counts for nothing right?

There's nothing confusing about it!! The advice HZ123 gave is misleading!!! Not maybe or possibly. As a recruiter, I'm not going to give advice on a public forum as I believe it would dis-advantage other candidates.

There is NO argument, only the facts!!!

Advice??? you can't even spell it mate!!

Apologies for my spelling: as a foreigner I might not be 100% all the time; I guess laughing at non native speakers spelling mistakes is something that would be the norm as far as you are concerned?

My adviCe to potential recruits is not to do so.....it wouldnt become anyone. And I know it is very much frowned upon within BA......

".......our european cousins who would rather have their own company...." I might even say you have a history there!

"..... room parties as the norm, skinny dipping galore......" Looks like you have real standards then when you recruit!

Only kiddin' mate!

Having been a c/crew/pilot recruiter at BA and then subsequently flown for a bit, I tend to agree with Snowbound on the advice given. There are bits of what were said that are true, but also some bits which are misleading. Just think about the current airline/aviation situation, what working on an aircraft with up to 15 others might be like/problems/team work etc, and situations with paxs you may have to deal with...

Snowbound stop being so dammed arrogant. The type of arrogance you are displaying gives the rest of us (us being BA crew) a bad reputation.

Give some advice if you want to, as you claim to be a cabin crew selector but don't criticise others for wanting to help.
