I sent my online application to VA last Thursday and had an email today inviting me for an interview on 23rd Jan! Thrilled! At the same time very scared!!! I have just printed off the reference form and was wondering who I should put down as the 4 personal references? Old school friends? People I grew up with who I remain freinds with? Do they actually contact these people?

Also I am currently self employed as a beauty therapist but I only filed my self employment form a month ago! Will it be an issue if I can not obtain a letter from the Inland Revenue by next week or will I be able to sumit it to them when I get it?

Virgin Atlantic application

Hi all,

Opened up a "My Application"-profile on VS Career website. Filled in all the necessary details, except for the "Application questions"-section. Then I went on a one month (welldeserved!) holiday and when I got back I was informed that my incomplete application had been cancelled/withdrawn.

But what puzzles me is that it seems as if it's impossible to re-activate that application. It's not possible to answer the "Application questions"-section as there's nowhere do write any answers. That page seems to be 'blocked' and I can't submit any answer to those questions

Anyone out here know how I can re-activate my VS Career Application?

thnx

I lost mine too. in the end after many attempts to sort it out i just re-signed up with a different email address. that seems to work but then i had to fill in all my details again. didnt take long. with reference to the 'no where to write your draft answers'. i wrote down the questions filled them out on paper and then signed in a day later and wrote them in. Hope thats ok!

kellymarie020,

I suggest you give the recruitment guys a call, and explain the situation to them. I'm sure they can reactivate the application.

I think the numer is 0870 190 4401, or otherwise try 01293 562345 which is the main switchboard and ask to be put through.

Good luck!

Thanks

Hi VS-LHRCSA
Thanks for explaining that to me. Sadly I applied to Virgin just before xmas 2007 , only to get the rejection e-mail. I now have to wait 6mths before I can re-apply, which is so frustrating. What about you?

Hi all, Can anyone give me a break dow of the Virgin salary and what I can expect to take home each month after tax?

I heard its around 1100 now with the new pay deal plus allowances. Can anyone confirm this?

Pay

It's my understanding that the paydeal doesn't change the starting salary, not 100% sure though.

Into the bank I wouldn't rely on getting more than 900 a month. But you can probably take around 100-300 pounds per month back from trips.

Hope this helps, feel free to PM me for any more details, its a fab job that you do for the lifestyle!! Do remeber that you will spend a lot less than usual as you are rarely in the UK more than 10 days a month.

Good luck to everyone applying, maybe I'll see you soon!!

Folks,

This forum is intended for working Cabin Crew: Some time ago it was nearly over run with wannabees, and for that reason the wannabee threads were established to be a source of information for those seeking recruitment. It would seem that the wannabee threads are now being used for a sort of social networking function instead.

You need to be very clear on this - If your post does not contain concrete fact about the recruitment then it has no business on PPRuNe - anywhere: This means that any of the following stuff is not to be posted...

Facebooks, blogs, I'm so happy for you, woohoo I got it, wish me luck, send me a PM, msn me, will you be at the interview, follow your dreams etc. etc. All of this should be done by PM on PPRuNe (if you must - we'd rather that you didn't use our server space for it) or by Text Message - in fact do it anyway that you want - BUT DON'T POST IT ON A THREAD.

Working pattern and money

Hi there

Can anybody give me an example of a working month. I applyed to virgin for IFBT but am still unsure if i could be away from home as much. I know the max is 6 flights per month which is one or two night i think? Also the money side, can somebody tell me if this is correct: They get paid roughly £10,000 per year but also get money for each flight and get given cash in hand to spend at your destination plus tips? Thought all this sounds to good to be true!

tinkerbelle23 you certainly have the right username because if you think earning £10,000 is 'too good to be true' then you are definately off with the fairies

That wasnt what i meant smarty pants. I was asking if you get paid a wage and flight pay and allowences and tips. Because that all sounds to good to be true.

All airlines will give you a basic plus allowances, trip pay etc but Virgin Atlantic just don't pay very much. You rarely get tips from pax. In 8 years I think it has happened twice for me!

Hi lou, I know two staff out of my group that have made the move the first one took just 6 months from the start of his flying to making the move. The other one took around 9 months. I am guessing it depends on how many folks are needed up there. I would speak to your CSM and keep pushing it. I just tried to swap to another nationality crews roster and that could not be done, but MAN crew is definitely possible. GOOD LUCK
