No - you no longer have to do the maths test. Too many people were failing it. You have to do a memory test which basically consists of really testing questions like "what is your address?" and "how old are you?".

I've heard lots of airline codes used for Virgin Atlantic before, but VZ is a new one on me

Yes, it would appear most new interviews and training courses have been cancelled (unsurprising in the current climate). If this effects you, you should have received an email.

Question Did anyone else apply to VA in January/February and not heard anything yet...?

I am very confused, if anyone else is in this situation then please let me know(I'm sure there are)...
I applied to Virgin Atlantic in January but I got an email in february saying I had been successful but they are not in a position to interview yet and they will contact later. Initially I was checking almost every day but now I hardly check but still nothing! Shame really, I was looking forward to the experience of potentially going for a different job.
Has anyone heard anything?

Hi Heffa,

I know this isn't really what you want to hear but where have you been for the last few months? The world is sitting under a dark cloud with no silver lining.

They are laying off staff and other airlines - namely in the arab world have a freeze on recruitment or even giving unpaid leave. Congratulations on being successful but I can't see much recruitment for a while

xx

Dark clouds

Dear High Heeled-Fa
No don't worry! I know what is going on in the world recession/redundancy etc. but I really didn't see the point in being told you were successful for nothing(you know?)...
more to the point why advertise for new people when you're going to be reducing the staff numbers anyway?

I'm surprised as well. especially as you mentioned February was when you got the reply. but in fairness they did tell you that they are not in a position to interview yet. Anything can happen in a week and maybe a decision was made.

Your name is on the records though so hopefully when things are stable, you would get notified if you are still required for an interview.

I know how gutting it must be to hear but its pretty much happening everywhere.

I don't really want to get into my opinions as to why they are still advertising (are they?) for new FAs. I'll leave that to the speculators. Usually, someone mentions that having fresh starting pay people around the corner means more experienced and higher paid staff need to look over their shoulder. But I'm not saying that at all.

I think as others have said will be a long time before recruitment starts again BUT stranger things have happened, infact the unfortunate ones to be made redundant are still working for the company and a new route has just been announced to Puerto Rico starting in November great timing you'd have thought they'd have waited!. So a mixed bag of good and bad news at VS depending what side you are on!

New route VS

Hi so the people who lost there jobs have them back again?? Also a new route does this mean that even if they dont start recruiting they could use the people they have in the holding pool like myself!! Does anyone have a rough idea if this could be this year that us in the holding pool could have a possible training date? Cheers!

Think the people who are in a holding pool will join 1st, as the ones that have been made redundant have to reapply, and have interviews etc.. where as people in the holding pool get training dates... By law the people that were made redundant have to reapply and go through the whole application process like anyone else. Its sad but thats the way it is

It wont be for a while yet tho....so happy waiting..

Well they are certainly dragging these things out was talking to a girl at lgw who said they still dont know how many heads to go from round two they should find out this week!. As soon as things pick up and the aircraft grounded start flying again they will need people just seems crazy that some companies cannot hang on to good staff in downturns when they make so much money in upturns!.

It's sad that an airline has to make decisions like these but it has to be done. Unlike other business, airlines don't make a lot of money compared to the amount it costs to run. By looking at the amount of service reductions made it will be some time before recruitment will start again for crew.
