Eco-activists coat private jet with yellow spray in Ibiza

Eco-activists in Ibiza have today shared the aftermath of covering a private jet in yellow paint amid growing protests globally demanding climate action.

Futuro Vegetal (Vegetable Future) claimed to have worked with Extinction Rebellion Ibiza on the 'action'.

Video from the scene showed one of the group's 'militants' speaking in front of the plane. One said: 'I am here today because it terrifies me, not having a future.'"


And a right bloody mess they've made of it too. Especially stomping about on the No Step wing.

As far as vandalism….they need a jail sentence.

And can I ask…how did they get airside? Did they have their yoghurt checked through security?

My understanding is they nipped over the fence. So, this being Ibiza where everybody is "chilled out", we must regretfully add airport security to that.

This is outright vandelism, they have no care or concern for other peoples property and destroy under the guise of protesting for the environment.

I have my own views on the environment and what we do to help it.. I don't need to cause what will be upwards of I guess Ł300,000 of repairs.
I have no idea of the exact repair costs, but paint damage and no doubt damage to flying surfaces and inspections won't be cheap.

These idiots need a jail sentence for these acts of vandelism.

How do you know that this Jet was privately owned and operated?

This happened in early June on the German island of Sylt. the article doesn't even say if they were arrested: I have to believe they were as they cut the airport fence to get in. They - Letzte Generation - did the same to some luxury shops and a bank on the island. I wondered about the cost: someone wrote 300 000. Is that in the ballpark ?

good point. could have been be chartered to an air ambulance company bringing someone to an hospital or ferrying live organs for instance. Not all business jets are carrying ultra rich people around, although in Ibiza it often is the case.
There are other ways to save the planet.than vandalism . .
I wonder if the owner could sue the airport for the breach of security .

They, at least the German aircraft repainters from "Letzte Generation", seem to be co-funded by some woke mega rich donors, including from the US by a woman from a famous oil billionaire dynasty. I always want to ask these people how they got to their protest site. Assuming they don't live on the island I assume they walked from wherever is home, then took a canoe across the Balearic Sea. Like the people protesting at Wimbledon, Lords etc.. They didn't take the train, did they? Surely not

Surely 'private jet' is just a generic term for that category of aircraft - or should we be checking that suchan aircraft is carrying a top business man on a deal making mission before describing something as an 'executive jet' or 'biz jet?

Can we all get over the Private/ Corporate/ Commercial, thing, and get down with what happened here - these young loons got through Airside Security to act with impunity - or did they? Were they pushed? Was it a stunt. We know JSO has friends in high places funding the opposite deal - so there's tokenism. We're seeing this kind of thing more and more.

What really happened here?
Are these kids on an hourly rate? If so, for whom?

Bizjets, less than 0.025% of CO2 production. Stopping the destruction of trees would be a much more productive use of "eco warrior" efforts.
