G650 return at Nice

Seems to be unusual to try to sort things out in a 360 overhead Cannes? just my perception.

Perhaps a short demonstration flight overhear Mandelieu airport? Sure looks like the visual track for a southerly approach at Mandelieu.. Otherwise, weird, but I have feeling it's a VFR flight with pre-coordinated flight overhead Mandelieu.

Did you manage to get the reg's of the bird? @ImageGear

Hi Klimax,

Nope I wasn't even aware of it because Nice is operating on Westerly's at the moment. (I live under the Easterly ILS so cannot see the approaching aircraft.) Sorry, guess someone may pop up later but knowing the sensitivities around many of the biz jet clients using Nice, I doubt it. Could be just positioning that went wrong.

Is the G650 allowed into Cannes? I thought they banned G550 upwards because of Ramp size? Perhaps they realised short final? :-) I may be wrong of course. Haven't been there in ages.

There were 19 G650 flights into or out of LFMN in the past week.

The airport in question was Cannes-Mandelieu, not Nice.

Looks like an attempted VFR repositioning LFMN-LFMD for pax or parking, a missed approach on 17, an attempted VFR circuit back to 17, an abort at LUXUS, and return to LFMN. Haven't checked the weather, but fairly plausible.

As mentioned, I think 550 now allowed to LFMD - but not sure about 650.

Cannes is restricted to 35T MTOW, so G450 and 7X are the heaviest birds allowed.
