Peter Charles RIP
Just had the sad news that my friend of 34 years, Peter Charles, crop sprayer (12,000 hours) and aero engineer extraordinaire, died peacefully yesterday. He was related by marriage to Mrs W. His autobiography, "Six Feet Over" is one of my favourite aviation books.
When Mrs W and I saw him in February he was fit and well, but as he said, his body was wearing out before his brain, but then he was 93, and still with a bit of help looking after himself very well! He was in fact a link back to the wartime ATA, having started his career in aviation with them as a trainee engineer.
In my experience Peter was the kindest of people, staunchest of friends and the prime example of "the glass is half full" philosophy of life.
We will miss him. RIP "Uncle" Pete
