Aircraft type:
Don't care as long as it has two reliable powerplants
Roster:
Don't care too much, as long as I know it at least a week in advance. Something like 3 days on 4 days off would be nice.
Location:
As close to home as possible.
Short or long-haul:
Short
Flight hours per year:
300 and at least as many landings.
(Apart from the roster thing I am very close to my dream job )

I know I only work in the cabin… But…
Aircraft Type: Global 6000
Roster: 3 weeks on 3 weeks off.
Location: Biggin Hill would be great
Short or Long Haul: Mix of the two would be nice. Nothing ultra long though.
Flight Hours: Maybe 2 or 3 trips per rotation, so say 300-350 hours a year?
Clothing allowance too, just to throw that into the mix…

Goddamit. I have exactly what you guys are dreaming of. 'Still not happy!
There are still too many problems.
I long for 2 weeks off/ 2 weeks off, good salary, no phone calls, ever!
I'll find it one day?

Living the dream? Been doing it for ages.
I have been at this private/charter/corporate game since 1989 and I've had a few jobs, some better than others. What I've gleaned is no matter what the job it's the ATTITUDE that will help you get along and move ahead of the rest. Anyone can fly a plane, we all know that, but not anyone can have the right attitude about what is important. Grumbling about this roster or that captain only makes it appear worse to YOU and no one else cares.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and could find plenty to grumble about but I choose not to. It is very expensive to live here, however, I feel fortunate to have spent my entire career here...and raised a family.
Global Express. Owner only/no charter. 3 pilots. Aircraft flies 350 hours per with a fair roster. Salary about average. Quality of life much above average.
Sorry for the rant.

Aircraft types:
Floatplane, helicopter, bizjet. Not concerned with specific models.
roster: flexible duty hours not to exceed 50 a week, 3 on 1 off.
The bosses big ranch out west. Nice home on the runway/lake.
haul? Keep it in the americas if possible.
flight hours- 500

Ideal Job? You'll never find it.
I was a spray pilot for 10 years until retiring at 30. What would come close for me was this. I always maintained the ideal would have been the long, straight, mainly unobstructed runs in Africa and a beach front life style in a "civilized" country. Two hours flying per day, 3 months per year.
Unfortunately The better the flying the worse the living conditions!! Those days AG aviation didn't suffer the over regulation and BS that aviation in general has become now. To me aviation is no longer enjoyable but a means to an end.
Goodness gracious me, how I miss those days.
