Salerno LIRI

Hi all

Will probably be operating into LIRI in a week or so. Noticed runway relatively short and only VOR approach, no lighting etc. Interesting! Not sure why we're not using Naples but perhaps to do with it being so anti GA!

Anyone with experience of Salerno care to share, special procedures, any useful tips etc (don't worry will check NOTAMS ).

Going in there with 4-6 pax in a C560XL from SE England.

Thanks!

I was in LIRI 2 weeks ago with a Cirrus SR22 and I saw a Falcon 900 parked on the apron, so I think you will not have problems with a C560 (regard the lenght of the RWY).

nice and easy

Landed there several time with a C650 and 8 pax. yes it is short but no obstacles. absolutelly better than Naples, they do not want you there, fuelling and passenger handlings are really a mess! in LIRI is nice and easy, no traffic and friendly handling. do not expect a lot services availability (no catering, no bar at the terminal...) check fuel availabity.
If you are staying there ovn there is the Pizzeria of the world award winner in the old part of the city. "Pulcinella" or other name like this.
have fun

Hi kyle,

we already went there with Falcon2000 and F900.

No problem at all,
they are really helpfull and we are using them as parking (Naples is not accepting all the request).

Netjets is going there as well.

It was fine when we went in, runway is about 5400' and facilities are basic but it serves the purpose! VOR/DME on field, more than adequate for straight in 05 but if not will have to circle to land 23! Fun fun fun!!!

I was there 6 weeks back and cant add much more to what has been said already, except:

There is normally no customs, so this needs 24 hours notice I believed. We were going to have to ferry somewhere in Italy first to be able to clear customs - only necessary I think if leaving th EU.

Secondly, there are a couple of hunnies working for the airport handling.

LIRI

SC Thanks did you have to book handling independently? if so who did you use. If not was it just arranged when you submitted the flight plan. Cant find any info on the handlers apart from they have hunnies!!

I think it is just the airport authorities who do the handling, I dont believe there is an FBO as such there.

However, I think we also had a rep from some Italian national FBO 'assisting' us, cant recall the company name, its like Accelsia (or sounds like that when said).

I have no idea if PPR is required, sorry.

Went there a few weeks ago in the Hawker 850, no problem with the runway etc.

Handling easy to deal with but a bit self service, Book your own hotels or you will not have one. I would stay here:
Grand Hotel Salerno (Salerno, Italy) - Hotel Reviews - TripAdvisor

The hotel by the railway station is, rather like Naples a **** hole.

Seriously, the best thing to come out of Naples is a Northbound SID.

Hi No Problem,

I didn't deal personally until I rocked up as Signum Aviation do my ops support and come highly recommended.

Either way communication was as I understand very slow.

PM me if you would like contact info and I'll be happy to have a talk through on it.

Regards

Jeff
