Question Customs And Agriculture

If anyone can provide any first hand experiences and knowledge on the process of notifying and receiving approval from Customs and Agricultural to bring an item (Spanish Ham) into KTEB. Our plan is to keep it on board and then departing the U.S. to another country after a 4 day stay. Impounding or bonding for the 4 day stay and then allowing it to leave is what we seek. Legally.
Many thanks

Not much help I'm afraid but good luck with this. In my experience they are positively rabid when it comes to confiscating (note I don't say 'destroying') perishables.

I'm sure many of them dine out well on confiscated catering.

The new agricultural act defines the disposal of food that is meant to be off-loaded. Nothing on what is left on board, since USof A is now very close to middle east habits; you can put the ham in a sealed container on board the airplane, and then forgot about it...The risk is if they search the plane, or if the ham is radio-active..in both case....But if you want to do it legally , call the customs, if you want your ham just forget about it in its container.
