24 hours if you have the invitation letter and application filled out correctly.

I let "Visa and Consulate Service" in London handle it for me. Google them.
Very professional. FedEx passport and docs to them, receive it back same way.
This is 3 days total

Cheers

You need to get a single entry visa first these days, that'll cover you for two trips, then only after that can you apply for the multientry. (If you already have two single entries *you'd need to check as I'm sure there's a time limit on it* you might be able to skip, although I did have (and previously multientries) but have had to go through the whole process again.

The single entry is an overnight thing (well, three-four days anyway) - the multiple, depends on how long the invitation takes to come through; but so long as the process starts in line with the single entry it shouldn't be a massive problem.

"Diplomacy" doesn't seem to have delayed the process (and more than it was!)

The guy to speak to, an expert for all things visa and travel, is Vas at Farnborough - 01252 553140. (Slight plug, but bails me out of trouble constantly!)

Shouldn't be much of a problem. You'll need a sponsor of some note in Russia - a Ministry or well-connected private company to back up the application. Also a passport-sized photo which must fit in the box provided on the application form. You should receive it in about a week.
There are no problems on the diplomatic front. Money is money after all, and you'll pay through the nose for it - £259 for a one-year m/e visa. If you need more help/info, pm me.

G3 Visas and Passports did mine. Took 7 days. I needed a letter from my company and a copy of my crew ID. 750 USD for Invite letter and 200 for the Visa and fees.

Cheers guys...company is arranging the visa for me, i just wanted to know how long one could expect to wait for the letter of invitation as the visa itself seems to be fairly easy to obtain once all the paper work is in order.

Appreciate your help.

Issued on the same day if you get the application lodged before 11.45pm!
