I think they were stopped until late 1944.................

They may well have said that it was (not) a good clothes drying day. I remember this being mentioned after the war.

Indeed during the GW 1 campaign our S Met O used to publish weather reports until someone whispered in his shell like.

No, public weather reports were banned. Given that most weather systems are westerly, they would give aid to those east of there in knowing what was coming, or what was being experienced in the UK.

However they were not banned in the Irish Republic, further west than the UK, and the German embassy in Dublin received the daily forecasts and actuals there, and had a radio to Berlin ...

Not all the forecasts were accurate, of course:
"Look, it's springtime
Winter for Poland and France
Springtime for Hitler and Germany!"
