Spitfire Duo over the Ribble Valley

Yesterday just after lunch I heard the long ago sound of Music, in the form of the much admired Merlin V12, dropping everything to the abject annoyance of Mrs PR-B I rushed outside to see a pair of Spits on their way to the Blackpool Air show flying East to West at about 1500/1800 ft was a Clipped wing with cannons clearly visible , and about 500 yards to the right (as they flew) was a conventional winged Spit, two different engine tone's but without doubt the lusty Merlin's both sounded perfect, they kept station with each other and appeared to be cruising at about 250 knots , what a lucky chance to see and hear such iconic aircraft.

The bonus was about 2 hr's later they were heard this time travelling in the West- East direction, again flew directly o/h my house this time the clipped wing A/c was lower but as before the engine tones were one loud ,with the other slightly less so... it absolutely made my day to see and hear such old warhorses flying as though going out to start something they were capable of finishing..!

You saw Spit IIa P7350 and Mk XVI TE311 (with the clipped wings) of the BBMF. Lucky devil!
