John Llewelyn Rhys - author/pilot remembered

Note that he spelled his middle name with one 'l' but the commemorative literary prize - recently suspended - uses two of them.

The BBC News site has notified a church service today in his memory

Service for pilot-author killed while serving in WW2 - BBC News

Had I known in time, I would have attended. Rhys was killed in a Wellington crash at RAF Harwell while OTU-instructing. He was the author of the classic England is My Village and some very readable novels of 1930s flying which are virtually forgotten today.
