Heathrow Terminal 1 no more...

London Heathrow Airport's Terminal 1 closes after 47 years of operations | Daily Mail Online

A few nice photos in article above. I suppose it was a bit tatty round the edges the last few times I passed through. I remember walking for ages to get to the end of the piers for certain European flights and Ireland, it made a tight connection that much more 'entertaining'. I remember late one evening, everywhere deserted except halfway along the pier having to almost fight my way through a raucous crowd blocking the whole width outside their gate on their way to Tel Aviv, I had to shout "I'm on my way to Germany and the doors close in 5mins!", it perplexed them enough to get me through, perhaps out of pity. Also fondly remembered were the many flights with British Midland and enjoying their lounges. Back in the day they were such a good alternative to Big Airways within Europe. Anyhow, I'll be sad to see T1 go

329 views and no-one (geddit?) has anything to say about LHR T1 ? Perhaps just as well they're going to change it into something else

Heathrow is now a 3 Terminal airport, with Terminals numbers 2, 4 and 5.

That should help to confuse Johnny Furriner

Unhappy

sorry and very saddened to see and hear T1 has closed as I remember it as our car park in 1962 before it was built, and the subsequent building of it,and it was my workplace till I retired from B.E.A. /B.A.Engineering in 1994 they never seemed to stop adding to it, what with the fingers and cul-de-sacs, our residence was at the end of pier 2.
Still there is no sentiment in the commercial world of civil aviation and the airport has to grow and it was getting a bit tatty but I will always remember the old place with affection

The beginning of the same story....

London Airport - British Pathé

Oh how times have changed...

But it is interesting to note how similar are these sort of films to those from North Korea presently being lampooned. It seems we taught them much about how to do it, grand music included!!
