Avro York Lighting

I am in the fortunate position of volunteering with aircraft maintenance at RAF Museum , Cosford.
At the moment my task is squeezing in behind the instrument panel of the York to check out wiring runs to the glider light at the extreme rear of the fuselage.

Whilst curled up under there, I have found two beautifully made little dome lights, which appear to point at the back (wrong side) of the instrument panel.
Can anyone tell me-what is the purpose of these lights? I don't think that they are there for ease of maintenance- nothing else on the airframe is.
thanks
HnH
