Proctors
I have been away from the forums for a very long time due to a serious illness;
My friend is restoring Proctor LZ 791, & in the workshop area are 3 more various Mks,
LZ 791 is being restored to flying condition first & is progressing well
Due to health conditions I cannot work on her, but I do a lot of research on the type.
Has anybody got any Proctor pictures Please? Preferably old pictures. not those currently airworthy, not matter what condition they are in.

Many thanks --- i am having a very long gander at air-britain as i have many hours just sitting about trying to amuse myself seeking out proctors
the proctor with which i have an avid interest in, & connection with in the past is lz791 -- kex ---- more to follow as & when i feel well enough

I was presented with a copy of the beautiful book:-- 'on the wings of a gull' by the members ot the 'percival restoration team; in recognition of my efforts in getting the team together about 5 years ago -- i treasure it & the kind thought behind the presentation

Here's G-AIEY taxying to the pumps at Blackbushe in the 60s parlty dressed as a Stuka. I think it's either Vivian Bellamy or Maurice Robinson driving?

GVP . . . .. . . Away from home for a while but will post a pic later of Proctor VH-DUL taken at Canberra in 1958 when she was owned by Philip Dulhunty of Dulmison, a company that imported Aero 145s and Meta Sokols to Australia.
This Proctor was recently advertised for sale. She ended up going to Paul Gliddon who is having the restoration done at Latrobe Valley in Victoria.
(Paul bought her for a song I have to say.)
A great pity there is no really comprehensive biography of Edgar Percival.
As many here would know, he was one of those Australians that made an enormous contribution to the advancement of aeronautics on the world stage.
A lot is known about that side of his life, but precious little about his private life.

I know that they decided not to use the conversions in the film and that the one that flew was considered rather nasty to fly. I think there were two or three conversions, but only one actually flew. However, I've never seen any definitive answer as to the final fate of the conversions.
In the film 'Mosquito Squadron' an old Proctor was used as a 'German' wreck, suitably painted-up. I have often wondered if this was one of the Proctukas, as this film was made around the same time as the BoB film....

GQ2 that could well be the case, given that Mosquito Squadron was filmed at Bovingdon.
My late Father was the Adj of 617 GS at Bovingdon in 69 and 70 and took me there as a youngster on many occasions. I well remember the 3 Proctors mocked up as Stukas being stored in one of the hangars, along with the large painting of Buckingham Palace (done for the shot where the 'Heinkel' flies low over the Palace before crashing into Victoria Station) and some of the Buchons which had been made to look like P51s.

Try GINFO. There are about half a dozen listed although I do not know if they are all airworthy... but it may be a start. I'd sure love to see it when it's finished.
