Weston Ireland Catalina R.I.P
Does anyone know the reason why the Catalina at Weston was bulldozed the other week. I know it was dismantled and in pieces but surely it must of been worth more for sale than turned into tin cans.

I think that is the old Plane Sailing aircraft which sank in the Solent - I thought it had been making great strides on the road to rebuild in the past - sounds like some corporate ignoramus with no sense of history or value has put the boot in. Haven't there been some problems with the airfield at Weston recently?
Having had some involvement with 'VP' as she was known itwas sad to hear this news. When it was sold a lot of work had been done but little joy was found in getting the money to finish it. The new owner made a offer as it was bought as a project for the son who was tragically killed in an accident soon after hence little progress. Myself and several others spent many weekends at Hamble / Lasham and finally Lee on Solent.
