I remember also an article on the XB-70 telling readers, amongst other things, that it took the Valkyrie 30 minutes to turn 180 deg. at Mach 3.
Blimey, so it would effectively travel 1000 miles to make the turn - that's a turning radius of something like 300 miles! So I quess agility was not it's strong point - still, it was a fantastic machine

Something to do with Spinning (Cylinder-) Wings perhaps (Magnus effect) similar to the boat you show.?

Well, I didn't find reference to Plymouth.

Under the circumstances I think you and Mel should toss for it then - I can't do much else.
