Ok thanks. In fact looking at it there is not much sign of any power! Is there a prop somewhere....maybe on that long nose...or a pusher behind the cabin?

Twin bladed prop on the front Ken.

The blades are just about horizontal in the original photograph, which is why you don't see much of them.

OK mate.

This project was unique and probably will remain so.

There is conficting evidence as to whether it flew or not, but it was certainly built.

The "power unit" is entirely within the fuselage, and was considered to be potentially dangerous.

Nuvver clue very shortly...........

Wanna photograph?

There are cars in it.......

This needs to go tonight/today in Oz.

Unfortunately its a busy time of year, but at least I am working from home

Now you have provided a clue I am convinced I have seen a picture somewhere - an aviation mag I think. May have been Flight?

Was this a NASA design project/competition?

Not NASA - a private venture.

The "power unit" was contained entirely within the fuselage.

Good morning/evening.

The reason the pilot sat in the gondola above the undercarriage is that the propulsion system occupied almost the entire length of the fuselage.

What type of system could that be ?.....................

Morning David
Well, I found an aircraft powered by conventional batteries last night (amazing what you find!) which bears some resemblence in that the cabin is suspended beneath the "fuselage", largely because of the number of batteries needed. Unfortunately the likeness stops there

Morning guys

Well. I suppose rubber bands of that size could be dangerous if they broke!!

I think it's called the Rubber Bandit designed and built by George Heaven

A Chance to Unwind

Sorry, but it'll have to be Open House if accepted as I'm really hectic at the moment with lots of folk away and won't be able to monitor
