Unhappy Me 109 heavily damaged in forced landing

One of the two airworthy Messerschmidt 109 flying in Germany has been heavily damaged three weeks ago during a forced landing. Pilot is unhurt.

Donations for rebuilding the plane are highly appreciated.

What caused the accident - the area looks pretty flat in the photo. Ideal belly landing area?

I assume the BF109 is privately owned? In which case, shame as it is, claim from the insurance company...Looking at the damage, it must have been one hell of a heavy landing.

Sorry to be in rant mode, but I do get very cross when private aircraft owners 'persuade' unknowing members of the public into financing their toys on the back of 'heritage and nostalgia'. I'm poor enough trying to finance my own flying, let alone subsidise somebody elses!*

This is a repeat of a thread that was put on PPRuNe when the accident happened. It is now closed.
