RAF Museum Cosford Photos (01/02/05)

Had a day out at the RAF Cosford Museum today, and it was a very nice and chilled out day. Plenty of interesting stuff to see and lots of changes since my last visit a few years back.

Having a good close up look at the outdoor stuff was nice, and so was the look inside the Vulcan B1 cockpit.

Nice to get a good look at the Lincoln and the German and Japanese stuff, oh and the art gallery is most impressive and worth a look around. There are TV's around the museum showing various DVDs and the British Airways one is particularly nice.

Also got to see some Jet Provost's doing short taxi runs, these were on the main airfield, they are used for training ground support staff etc.

Andrewman. Fantastic photos and thank you so much for putting them on PPRuNe. The prone Meteor picture reminded me of the time I was undergoing an Avro 748 type rating at Woodford in 1966 prior to ferrying the VIP version back to Australia for the RAAF. My instructor on the 748 was test pilot Eric Franklin who I believe did some of the original test flying on the prone Meteor.
Eric was a fine instructor. Other test pilots at Woodford at the time was Jimmy Harrison, Bill Else and Tony Blackman.

yes, it's the same bitsa Mustang that used to be at Hendon.

The "Drone" is infact an extremely rare Holzbrau-Kissing Enzian surface to air missile.
